[ad#Ad-plus-sense] Melanie’s hair loss problem started when she was was seven years old and her mom was brushing her hair – and found a small, perfectly round bald patch at the nape of her neck. The patch eventually filled in with new hair, but soon another patch appeared and at times she had two or three bald patches at once. Although they were well hidden beneath her longer layers of hair, just knowing they were there made her feel really uncomfortable.
Her parents took her from doctor to doctor. At the time, they could give her no known cause or cure for the mysterious, but common hair follicle disorder called alopecia areata. She had to learn to live with it – until many years later.
By the time she reached age 32 her hair started falling out by the handfuls and this time it wasn’t stopping. At first she thought her hair loss was a severe case of the alopecia areata she had been suffering with. Many years later she learnt she was experiencing a second type of hair loss called telogen effluvium. (Women can experience more than one form of hair loss simultaneously with one type opening the way for another type!)
Otherwise healthy, the advise was to get a good wig and get on with life. Naturally being unhappy with the whole situation she just wanted to be her natural self and without hair that seemed impossible. Melanie eventually resigned herself to purchasing a passable looking wig.
All this got Melanie investigating natural hair loss solutions. Of all the natural solutions for hair loss - aromatherapy looked very promising.

Learning about how essential oils can help stimulate the scalp into producing new hair, was fascinating. Each type of oil had its own function such as cleansing, nourishing, increasing circulation, supplying oxygen, balancing ph levels etc. She continued experimenting, learning which oils complemented each other – and began mixing her own special formulas.
Every evening she would massage the essential oil blends into her scalp and found their soothing aroma seemed to help her fall into a deep sleep. In the morning she washed the oils out. She became absorbed in learning everything possible about the healing powers of aromatherapy, how it works on many different levels and in harmony with the body’s own natural healing system.
She stopped focusing on her hair loss and got a new sense of confidence taking control of her own health and feeling a new overall sense of well-being while beginning to look and feel better. Within three months of applying the oils Melanie began to notice very fine, soft new hairs covering her scalp. Later still, the hair began to thicken and darken and she was finally able to discard the wig!

For going on seventeen years or more, she has been able to maintain dark, shiny and healthy looking healthy, growing hair using aromatherapy and natural hair care products. She no longer experience alopecia areata symptoms, but periodically, signs of telogen effluvium might creepp back. Thanks to her knowledge and experience to blend essential oil hair loss formulas she is always able to restore growth and minimize hair loss quickly and effectively, before any thinning becomes noticeable.
“Losing my hair was a painful, life changing experience. But it was this experience that led me to explore aromatherapy and to experience the beauty and power of nature’s gentle yet potent healing oils.
